Taking into account the patent gender bias prevalent in Indian society the Honorable Supreme Court has laid down the guidelines and principles to ensure the safety, security and dignity of women at the work place and has announced the following verdict in the case of Vishakha & Others vs. State of Rajasthan & Others in August 1997: “It shall be the duty of the employer or other responsible person in work places or other institutions to prevent or deter the commission of acts of sexual harassment and to provide the procedure for the resolution, settlement or prosecution of acts of sexual harassment by taking all steps required.” “It is policy of the University to provide safe working and study environment for staff and students free from gender discrimination and sexual harassment of all forms of sexual intimidation and exploitation. All staff and students should be aware that the University strongly disapproves of any conduct that constitutes sexual harassment and shall take all disciplinary and legal measures to ensure compliance.” The main focus of Women’s Cell, “GARGI” is to create an enabling environment for gender justice where men and women can work together with a sense of personal security and dignity. Pursuant to the Directives of the Honourable Supreme Court of India, Women’s Cell has been set up by the Chairman, Lala Ami Chand Monga Memorial Educational Trust, V.P.O.Ugala to uphold the dignity of women at work.

To create awareness among students about the problems faced by women of all strata due to gender issues.
To create awareness among students about the problems faced by working women.
To create an environment of gender justice where men and women work together with a sense of personal security and dignity.
To create awareness among students about the issues related to the youth, girls in particular.
To disseminate knowledge about rights and laws related to women.
To create a sense of responsibility in the students and have healthy study and work culture in College.
To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of girl students, women faculty and staff in College.
To foster decision-making ability in girl students for making informed choices in areas like education, employment and health.
To develop critical thinking ability of women students.
To inculcate team spirit in the students.
